In Romania, employers who hire victims of domestic violence or human trafficking can receive a monthly subsidy of 2,250 lei from the state for a period of 12 months. This measure, provided for by a recently enacted law, aims to facilitate the social and professional reintegration of vulnerable people and encourage employers to contribute to this process.

To qualify for the subsidy, employers must hire victims on permanent contracts and maintain the employment relationship for at least 18 months. In addition, the persons concerned must be registered as unemployed with employment agencies. The law amends Law No. 76/2002 on the unemployment insurance system and the promotion of employment, extending the categories of persons for whom employers can receive subsidies.

This legislative initiative is an important step in supporting victims of domestic violence and human trafficking, offering them real opportunities for reintegration into society and the labor market. By encouraging employers to hire people from these vulnerable categories, it helps reduce the risk of repeat abuse and lower the associated social costs.
