In the near future, the prohibition of Romanian public institutions to request additional folders or any other stationery object for the purpose of providing a public service will come into force.

The Senate initially rejected this project, but the Chamber of Deputies proposed its adoption. The Chamber of Deputies is a decision-making body.

In practice, the folders will be prohibited both when submitting applications for public services and for competitions for public functions or when submitting the necessary documents for participation in public procurement procedures. No additional fees may be charged to cover the costs of the said items or for other office and stationery items.

In an official statement, a new step will be taken to digitize the basic services of the administration.

After passing the vote of deputies, the law will apply 180 days after its publication in the Official Gazette.
