Why are we more efficient when being a team?

Few of us truly understand what the importance of working in a team is. How can we be efficient working in a team and why working together? One of the apparently insignificant aspects would be the need to have a strong motivation from each team member in order to wish and determine to involve itself and to work within a team.

A strong motivation for some people would be either a higher wage or a raise. Each of us has different motivations but for co-working in a team there must be a final purpose, a common gain, even though individual motivations are different.

In order to kill the mammoth during ancient times the hunters did not have enough time to think about an organizational scheme, to establish duties or to delegate. They were just thinking how to reach the results; this meaning that after hunting they would have got a dinner or if they did not hunt would have had nothing to eat. Everything depended on them. The person who was seeing the mammoth from a far distance was called the Official Observer; the one who was running the fastest was named the Best Runner; the one who was throwing away his spear was the Great Marksman; and the most respected and listened for person was the Leader. Why do you think that all team members were so eager to fulfil their part: observing, running, aiming and leading and they all were stepping aside when somebody better could have made the same job as they did? Because they all were supposed to eat the mammoth once it was killed and cooked. What were of utter importance were the results and not the status. The common benefit was the mammoth meat of our days.

Indeed there are much more chances to reach the desired result where unity and wish to work together in a team exists. “Where there are two the power grows.” Do you remember the lyrics from the patriot song ? Could sound weird but if correct understood these words are very true!!!

But of course there are times when a project could be compromised due to the problems that might interfere, the obstacles from both outside and inside. In any work we must expect to have outside obstacles that could take many forms: disappointment, ridicule, irony, as well as from inside: fear, boredom, postponement tendency. Unfortunately the last ones are not so taken into consideration but they could destroy the wish to go on, to see the results or to reach the wanted result. The secret for these obstacles to be moved away could lie in: Perseverance, Unity and Encouragement.

Not at least the most important thing is that each team member to be involved, to see the results and to be encouraged by others, accordingly each of them to be encouraged. A most significance in team work is that each to “set to work”, starting with the big ones, these ones being a good example for employees and finishing with the little ones; it is important like all to be dedicated to same purpose, never mind their position or function, but only their wish to see the results and to do everything together, to have unity and good communication.

Viewing from my side I believe in team work there is a power, and those who know how to work in a team have greater chances to reach outstanding results. Where there is a real team there is unity and this one means power.
