March brings the presentation of our colleague Renata Todoran, the Financial Manager of the Ascent Group. Renata is the person of figures, accounting policies and financial development strategies, but also a very emphatic and motivated person. She joined our team 14 years ago and since then we can even say that she has brought “light” into many aspects of the financial and fiscal part of our customers.
Renata addresses every challenge with a lot of tact, calm and perseverance, always offering suitable solutions to those who resort to it. And it is not easy to go through the legislative context in Romania, which leaves room for many interpretations and often does not have enforcement rules. But she manages to do this very well, because …seems to be done for this job.
What can you tell us about you from a professional point of view?
I graduated from Accounting and ITmanagement at the Faculty of Economic Sciences at Aurel Vlaicu University in Arad. I completed the studies with a Master on Stock Exchanges, also at Aurel Vlaicu University in Arad.
Why financial? Because I like numbers. I was talking to my mother the other day, even when the closing deadline of the year (which is a more stressful period) was approaching. And she asked me if I can anymore, I told her I can, because I liked what I was doing. I told her: “Mother, it’s as if I were making crosswords, but there are more than a few now and some of them are neologisms”. She was calmed 🙂
Prior to ASCENT, I gathered over 5 years of experience in automotive multinational companies in production. The other years of experience I have gathered here, but the experience gathered in Ascent is in many fields: The accounting of companies specialized in both production and trade and services. Along the way Ihave gained experience both in keeping the accounts of some companies and in coordinating the accountancy office, in granting tax consultancy and in supporting specialized trainings. This is what I love here… I thought that to learn more, I had to change my job. It is not exactly the same, but you have to find the one that suits you.
What do you like to do most?
I like the beginnings: I like to do things for the first time, I like to wake up early in the morning, I like Monday days and I like to think about every day as it’s the first day of the rest of my life. That’s why I am always happy, I see every day…as a new beginning :).
I like to do sports, to bake cakes, to laugh, to talk to wise people (to listen to them), to read, listen to music, to watch the sky, to travel, to work and to love. And not necessarily in this order. I think I like a lot of things, but that’s how I am.
I almost forgot: I like rain and cooling (some would call it cold, but I don’t agree with them :).
How would you describe yourself as a person?
As a person, I feel confident, open and positive. I would also add emotional, honest and balanced.
What motivates you to job?
It motivates me first of all the leader’s vision, and secondly that I feel I am developing professionally as well as personally. Although I have been here for 14 years, I do not feel it in any way, which is extraordinary. By the way, I think I should be made C.I. ascentinian, I am legally aged in Ascent for this:).
What are your principles of life?
I have quite a lot of principles in my life. I will list them below, hoping you would find it useful, not many:
- To surround me with people who feel I am worth it.
- Better slower together than faster alone (sporting competitions are not set :))
- Be the change you want to see (sounds better in English 🙂
- Adapt.
- In everything you do, agree with you, and say NO when you feel like doing that. To anyone.
- Ask when you don’t understand. “You’d better look stupid than be stupid.”
- Ensure that there is a balance in your life between: Mental status, physical state, spirituality, financial field. Every day, a little of each, and there’s no need for medicines later 🙂
How do you see ASCENT in the future?
In the ascen(t)sion, how else?
I see a company closer to the customer, that’s what we’re proposing. How do we do that? We are Robotizing the repetitive, time-consuming processes, and the remaining time we use it in updating with changes and advising our customers.
