The influence of new political realities on the investment climate of the Republic of Moldova

The year 2009 was certainly not the best for Moldova, in all respects. It started with a campaign that slowly degenerated into a real political crisis, which, unfortunately, at the end of the year continues. A political crisis that we hope it will be resolved soon and which in tandem with global financial and economic crisis has created an unprecedented situation for Moldova.

However, nothing can lie a good eye of an investor who knows that a crisis may be a perfect runway, if you know how to pave the way and take advantage of the specific geographical region. An economic crisis brings beautiful investment opportunities with little money, because the whole economy has become “cheaper”, but with the same critical needs. The giants in the business world recommend the crisis as the most favorable moment for large projects.

Moldova is a special case which succeeded to stick his head in 2 crises that affect itself one to each other.

The giants in the business world recommend the crisis as the most favorable moment for large projects.

Moldova is a special case which succeeded to stick his head in 2 crises that affect itself one to each other.

First, the political crisis finally toppled the image of Moldova. From a communist country with a political and economic stability has become an unstable politically and economically country but with strong European aspirations (at least this is what the new government in Chisinau say). The events from the beginning of the year helped Moldova to get out from the crowd, although not in the way it was desirable. Both on politically and economically level, Moldova is at the starting line and those who will directly assist the process will be the winners.

On the other hand, the economic crisis generated by global financial crisis that Moldova is facing right now stressed even more or maybe generated the change of the political climate in Chisinau. At this point both society and the Government is facing a financial deficit which sooner or later will need to be covered. A capital injection is so necessary that the government will have to improve the investment climate, to attract both public and private funds.

The certain European aspiration used by the new Government, accompanied by concrete actions for supporting it will help Moldova on the way to democracy. The colorizing of the new government established for the first time in Moldova a clear competing situation in the Government, which will help firstly the society. Voices from Brussels and Strasbourg are already talking about the European and democratic future of Moldova.

Politics always influenced economics and vice versa, and this is demonstrated best, now in Moldova.

The anti crisis solutions will first meet the foreign investors expectations in search of new markets. They will surely choose the market that awaits them most and give them the opportunities. Fiscal conditions have been always favorable for investments it only remains to wait improvements and a more effective implementation.
Another benefit that the crisis brings is the ability to deploy which increases in the same time with the increasing of the problems. The Governments in Chisinau, more than ever, have reason to deploy and certainly will do, even for the sake of competition.
